When Boys Will Be Boys was first published in paperback in February of this year, quite a few people asked if it would be available as an e-book. Shailey and I are pleased to announce that Boys Will Be Boys: Media, Morality and the Cover-up of the Todd Palin Shailey Tripp Sex Scandal is now available for Kindle through Amazon.

While we are very happy to be able to offer the book in electronic format, getting to this point wasn’t an easy process.
Last month, Shailey submitted the book along with payment to a company called BookBaby, which is a division of AVL Digital Group, to be converted to ePUB format.
According to this article AVL Digital is the world's leading self-publishing platform for independent content creators—musicians, filmmakers and authors, as well as a wide range of institutional clients. The company’s proven multi-channel marketing model includes a strong social marketing presence, industry-leading web search optimization, as well as email and catalog marketing.
Their brands, in addition to BookBaby are CD Baby, HostBaby, Disc Makers and Oasis.
With their emphasis on being a platform for artists looking to self-publish, one could reasonably expect them to be broadminded and certainly not censorious. That expectation would be WRONG!
Soon after sending Boys Will Be Boys to BookBaby to be converted to e-book format, Shailey received an email stating that they would be checking with the Anchorage Police Department to see if the police reports included in the book were public record. Of course, the police reports about Shailey’s arrest are a matter of public record so that shouldn’t have even been an issue, right? WRONG!
A few days later, she received another email stating that the APD and the Palins had refused to give them permission to e-publish Boys Will Be Boys so they were refunding her payment.
The Palins and the APD refused to give permission to publish…
Why would BookBaby even ask their permission is what I would like to know?
Thankfully, Amazon didn’t feel the same way as BookBaby!
Shailey and I hope that all of you who have been waiting for the Kindle version, will enjoy reading the book.
